My third year working with the Shea’s Gala Event team coincided with the 90th Anniversary of the main Shea’s Theatre, so it was decided that the Gala would also double as a celebration of that milestone. As I was already designing the branding for the Galas, I would be designing the branding for the Anniversary as well.
My work for the Gala started earlier than ever, with a lot of the major branding design being created in the Fall of 2015 so the Anniversary logos could be used throughout the season. Banners for the lobby of the theatre and images on the Main St. Marquee have featured my artwork for most of this year’s season of shows.
Per the client, the invite and branding was to use the same signature image of the marquee from last year, with an updated / new logo for the 90th Anniversary. I wanted to use something timeless and bold, with a hint of that throwback retro flavor. I wanted the milestone anniversary to be the centerpiece of the logo, so I made the design revolve around a large golden 90. The “At The Gala” was added in a script font to tie in the retro design and also the sophistication of the event.
As per year’s past, the logo has been incorporated into a number of collateral for the event, including invites, reply cards, envelopes, & letterhead.
